Mayercraft Carrier 2008

A few weeks ago, Steve and I, along with my cousin Derek and his wife Cindy, went on one of the best trips of my life. So great, in fact, I had to break my nearly 2 year hiatus of blogging to tell you about it. As some of you may know, I am a bit obsessed (OK, a lot obsessed) with the singer/songwriter John Mayer. He chartered a Carnival cruise for his fans, called it the Mayercraft Carrier and along with about 12 other amazing artists of his choosing, we all went on a 4 day rock adventure from Miami, Florida to Freeport, Bahamas and back. It was truly an amazing experience. Continue reading "Mayercraft Carrier 2008"

Our newest addition

Ok. Not really. Last weekend we dog-sat for Steve's brother's family's new puppy, Charlie. He is a 14-week-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and is just sooooo cute! The kids did great with him, and we really enjoyed spending time with him, despite the scratches, middle of the night walks, poops on the floor, etc.!

Our Little Dancer

Last night was Allison's dancing recital. She is at a new studio this year and we were all really impressed with the quality of all of the dancers in the recital. Allison did great in her two numbers "Meet Me in St. Louis" (ballet) and "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" (tap). She looked so cute, even though we had to put enough makeup on her to look like a street walker!

Trip to the Ozarks

Once again, we accompanied my parents to the Missouri Bar Association conference in the Ozarks. This time the conference was held at Tan-Tar-A and the kids were at much better ages than the last time we went 3 years ago. We had a wonderful time. Here are some photos of our favorite activities. A Mad and Marvelous May

The month of May was unusually hectic - even for us. In one month we had Jordan's 6th birthday and party, both Steve's and my dad's birthdays (my dad turned 70!), hosted a Mother's Day brunch, had our 9 year anniversary, my first annual piano recital for my students, a program for Jordan at school, Allison's end of the year gymnastics show, hosted a huge Memorial Day BBQ at our house for our friends, had all the kid's end of the year school stuff, my end of the year music programs, a Dad and I weekend out of town and much much more. It was exhausting! Click to see photos of some of the main events.

Our Trip to California

My best friend Debbie and her new husband Chad had a big post-wedding celebration in a suburb of San Francisco, which gave Steve and I the perfect opportunity for a quick getaway. We started the trip in beautiful Pleasant Hill, where they live and really enjoyed walking around downtown and spending quality time with Deb and Chad.

Jordan the Artist

Last night Jordan was featured in his first art show. It was held at the local high school and there were participants from all of the grade schools, the junior high and the high school where they will all eventually end up. There were only a handful of kindergarteners chosen from Jordan's school and he ended up having two of his pieces showcased. He was very very proud and so were we! Here they are.... "Robots" and "Dream House".

Valentine's Day Fun

Much to my friends' amusement, our family is pretty into Valentine's Day. For the second year in a row, I took Jordan to the Mommy/Son Valentine's Day dance and Steve and Allison went to the Enchanted Valentine's Ball. It was really fun dressing up and having a fun night out with our "dates". Then it was time for the kids' class Valentine's Day party. Lots of valentines, candy, activities and fun for all. Here are the photos... Continue reading "Valentine's Day Fun"

Belated Hannukah Entry

Last month we celebrated Hannukah with our immediate family, and both sets of grandparents. It was a very fun week and the kids got tons of great gifts.

Marianne Goes to Oprah!

For years, I have actively been trying to get tickets to see my idol, Oprah Winfrey tape her show in Chicago. It is next to impossible to get tickets. So imagine my surprise when I got a call last Tuesday afternoon asking if I could grab some friends and make it to Chicago by 7:00am Thursday morning. Of course we all made it happen and had a great time. I took my mom and my friends Mindy, Gayle and Tracy. We even found time to have dinner with my cousin Alan. Although the topic of the show changed from Matthew McConnahey (he canceled at the last minute - just my luck!), to "Burning Questions for Oprah" to what the show ended up as - "Breakfast with Oprah" with surprise guest Mary J. Blige, it was still an amazing experience! There are no pictures inside the studio because they confiscated my camera. : (
