Visit from New York

Last weekend, Andy, Greta, and the twins came for a visit. We had the greatest time with them, even though our electricity was out from Sat. afternoon until Tues. night, due to a terrible storm. The girls were so much fun to be with and watch in action. They are also beautiful, smart, and well-behaved, not to brag or anything! They played beautifully together
and seemed to love playing with Jordan and Allison, who couldn't get enough of showing them around and sharing their toys and teaching them new things, like playing in their band, marching and dancing around tables. We had so much pleasure watching the cousins get to know each other and play together. Jordan has picked up on my need and love of pictures and kept trying to arrange photo opts! Although we took lots of pictures, someone's head was usually blocked, as your will soon see.

The first day was spent just hanging out at our house and having the cousins get to know each other.

We were amazed at how much and how good the twins ate...everything from mushrooms, fresh fruit, brisket, all veggies, etc. You name it, they ate it! They were always ready to eat!

The girls also loved taking their bath, playing with the toys at our house, and having Grandpa read to them. Having no electricity was actually a treat because we got to hear their many songs, play flashlight games, and spend quality time with them. They are such well behaved children, even when it was pitch dark in the house!

We enjoyed going to Marianne's house, where the kids played dress up, among other activities. Jordan and Allison were terrific about sharing all their toys.

We went to the Magic House, where the girls loved playing with the sand and water. Andy took pictures there. We also went to a great park by our house.

On Sunday, we went to the zoo, which was great and then out to dinner for the last time together. We had a wonderful visit with Andy, Greta and the girls. We have 4 fabulous grandchildren, terrific memories and, as Jordan said afterwards, we can't wait to see Marin and Annelie, Andy & Greta again SOON! Despite the storm, lack of electricity, and normal commotion when kids get together, I wouldn't have traded a moment of this visit. Seeing the cousins interact and get along so great was certainly a special highlight for Art and me. Hopefully, Andy will post his pictures soon (hint, hint).

Last hug says it all...

At the Magic House

We were lucky to get Annelie away from the sand exhibit, where she probably still would be playing now, if we let her.

Jordan Goes to Kindergarten

Well, hard as it is to believe, our baby boy Jordan has started Kindergarten. He was so very excited to be going, even though it was pouring rain. He is so lucky to be at the bus stop with his friend Jacob and the triplets from our cul-de-sac who are going into first grade. He has lots of friends in his class too. Even though it's a long day (about 8:30am - 4:00 pm) he still had plenty of energy when he got home. Here he is before he left for the bus...

smilee-mail.jpg Here are more photos from his happy first morning.

These were taken a few days before he officially started. It is his school and his principal.

Don't try this at home

Marin on Annelie's back

Marin and Annelie enjoy standing on our backs, trying to balance and stay upright. A few weeks ago, they tried standing on each other's backs. Their backs are rather small, so it didn't work out. Plus, it looked like someone might fall, so I stopped it pretty quickly, but not before taking this picture.

Marin painting

At the Children's Museum of Manhattan, the kids got to paint for the first time. Here's one of my pictures of Marin painting. She painted a very dense blob of every color under the rainbox, but I think for her it was more about the process than the result.

I'm thinking about posting fewer pictures at a time, but higher quality, and more frequently. I'll try this for a while and see how it goes.
