Messy Fun Night

Last night I had a "girls night out" with my friends from playgroup. Steve had fun with the kids giving them pudding (which Allison smeared all over her face), letting them jump on our new moon bounce, and swingset time. He even gave them a bath afterwards. Here are some cute photos from their fun night.

Kung Foo Chervitz

For Jordan's 4th birthday, Grandma Bevie and Grandpa Maynie gave him (among other things) a month's membership to the World Martial Arts Academy up the street where they have a class for 4-6 year olds. He had his first class today and it was a riot. While his outfit was a bit too big for him, he did a great job keeping up with the instructions, learning some new moves and even broke a board with his fist. (He also spent a great deal of time waving and smiling at us, but that's another story!) He had a great time and I think this will be a great new hobby for him.

Footnote on our Branson Trip

I forgot to say something in my Branson entry. One of the best parts of our "family vacation", besides all of us being together, was seeing the interaction between Jordan and Allison. Seeing them hug and put their arms around each other, or walk hand in hand (when Allie allows it) was priceless. The other part of our pleasure was hearing the amazing thoughts that come out of their mouths, especially Jordan's.

He truly loved every minute of this trip...except for the food. Being a very picky eater, he quickly saw that there would be nothing that he would enjoy eating. After the first dinner, his prize sentence was, "There's so much here I don't like, I can't decide what not to eat!" True to form, he only ate a little breakfast, and had no lunch or dinner each day. Not a "true Hyatt or Chervitz" by any means!
Another wise thought was spoken after he put a piece of bubble gum in his mouth. Marianne warned him over and over not to swallow it. Of course, when he was busy talking, he did swallow it. After Steve and Marianne bawled him out, he thought for a minute and then said, "I'm sorry. Next time I'll try harder to listen to you." Maybe all kids say things like that but we thought that was so nice of him to say. I could go on and on but I won't. I realize that maybe I'm just a proud Grandma!

Storm damage

A few days before going to Branson, our home, along with many others in Creve Coeur, was hit very hard by hail and a severe storm. All of my flowers, shrubs were ruined as was our roof, siding, outdoor furniture and ornaments, and gutters. Now, after so much fun in Branson and the excitement of the Senior Olympics, I have to deal with this mess.

It's a Gold Medal in the 2004 Senior Olympics!

After one day home from Branson, I competed in my sixth Senior Olympics and our group, The Happy Tappers, won another Gold Medal. Our dance was "Razzle Dazzle" from the play and movie, "Chicago."

This last picture was taken right after we performed, by Barbara Berson, who is in our class but too young to perform in the Senior Olympics so she always takes our pictures! Although it might look just like the one above, it isn't...we hadn't won our gold medals yet!

2004 Annual Hyatt-Chervitz Vacation to Branson, Mo.

After hearing Jordan ask for one year, "When can we go back to Branson?", we finally made it back to Branson and the fabulous Chateau on the Lake! This year was better than ever and we all had a marvelous, fun-filled time.

The first highlight of the trip, according to Steve, was lunch at Penelope's Diner, which featured steaks, pizza, and Greek food!

After lunch, we decided to see the Fantastic Caverns, which were truly fantastic. It is the only drive through cavern in the country. Before we took a 55 minute jeep ride through the caverns, the kids wanted to have a hat fashion show.

After several traffic jams, we finally arrived! Now, on to the playground, story time with Lucky, the bear, feeding the fish, and Silver Dollar City!

Sunday, we had a very busy, fun day: first, after a big breakfast, it was off to the movie theater, then we went on a 2 hour pontoon boat ride. At first the kids loved getting splashed but soon after getting totally soaked, Allie was not happy but remained a great sport. Jordan had a great time helping Steve steer the boat. After that, we went swimming, took naps, and then went on a horse drawn wagon ride around the resort before heading off to the indoor barbeque (because of the possible bad weather). The kids had so much fun running around, getting tattoos, doing relay races, and other games. Jordan, "Mr. Sociable", made a new (girl) friend, who he insisted on introducing to each member of his family . He told her he'd call her when they got home to set up a play date! After it got dark, we headed outside for the playground again and the great fireworks display, which frightened Allie.

On our last day we took a nature hike before heading home. We can't wait to come back to Branson again, as Jordan said, "maybe tomorrow!"
