As far as I know, he's not even a distant relation, but I like the fact that pretty much the only Hyatt I've heard of is not only a fellow programmer, but a fairly well known one at that. David Hyatt is of Netscape, and now Apple fame. He's contributed to Chimera and now Apple's Safari browser.
For the time being, though, Safari seems to have a lot of problems with things. Chimera is a much better at standards compliance. I use three web browsers, because all of them have some problems. I use OmniWeb because it has the best international support, including have an internationalized interface. It's rendering is fairly good. But it's a bit slow. Chimera is faster, and is fairly solid, although quite a few things don't work correctly still, and international support is poor. Safari is fast and even less works, but it has better international support. Right now, I use it as a default, but I frequently notice problems. Yes, I should really start reporting bugs.
I realize that this blog entry has very little point. I mean, who the hell cares if I share the same last name as this guy? Well, I guess I do, since there aren't that many Hyatts around, and this one is fairly famous in geek circles.
Just a quick note - there are basically two different ethnicities that have the name Hyatt. The one I belong to are Jews. Hyatt is a slight corruption of the Hebrew word for "tailor". The other are Scottish, and I'm not sure what their story is. Due to the Scottish immigration to the South, there are many Hyatts there.
